Parent info

Dear Wizard of Oz Parents and Guardians,
We are very excited to be working with your young person in our production of
The Wizard of Oz. In this letter we will include information that will help you and your cast
member be better prepared to enjoy this theater experience.
The Rehearsal Schedule:
It is very important that everyone make every effort to be at each rehearsal for the entire time.
We do our best to work around schedule conflicts but please understand that this is a real commitment and when your actor misses a rehearsal it effects the entire cast. So, if it is at all possible, schedule appointments and other commitments on non-rehearsal days.
If your actor is unable to be at a rehearsal please let us know as far in advance as possible so that we can plan that rehearsal around their absence. You may let us know by email - deeann@boydston.us , phone 437-1060 or by a note given to Clerisa, our assistant director.

Communication:
It is very important that we keep the lines of communication open. If you have a problem or concern please feel free to email Dee Ann at deeann@boydston.us or call me at 437-1060. If you have a music question call Marty at 447-2180.
Once we get going, there are always many announcements and changes in the schedule. To stay on top of the latest Oz news for you and your actor visit the POPA Wizard of Oz website on a regular basis  www.popawizardofoz.blogspot.com
The website is the only place that I will be posting new information and scheduling changes, so stay in the loop by checking the site and remind your actor to do the same.

Water bottles and snacks
Please provide your actor with a water bottle with their name on it to bring to rehearsal. Snacks will be provided while we are in the Playhouse in August. If you would like to donate snack items for the cast during the month of August it would be appreciated. Once school starts, we will not be providing snacks. It is very important that you provide an afterschool snack for your actor for every rehearsal.

Costumes:
There are many quick costume changes in this show. To make it the easiest and most modest we ask that each actor provide their own white tank top and light colored shorts that can be worn underneath their costume. Each actor, unless otherwise directed by our costumer, is also asked to provide their own pair of black soft soled dance style shoes. If any of these required costume pieces are a problem for you, financially or your just having trouble finding them, please talk to our costumer, Donna Maki, dnnmk55@gmail.com.

Make up:
Each cast member needs to supply their own black mascara (yes, even the boys ). Mark the mascara with the actor’s name.

Volunteers:
Check out the Volunteer tab to view the Volunteer Form with various opportunities for you to help during rehearsals and the performances. Please look it over and decide where you would like to help.
You may get a form from Lauretta or DeeAnn and turn in the completed form to Dee Ann or Clerisa.

Break-a-leg Wishes
Send a message in the program to your favorite actor. Tell them they’re fantastic, that you’re proud of them, that you love them and to break a leg! Only $5 buys you a space to fill with two lines of love. Email your Break-a-leg messages to Dee Ann at deeann@boydston.us  write Break-a-leg in the subject line. Lauretta Heaney will be collecting the Break-a-leg money.

We look forward to traveling down the yellow brick road with you and your child.
Sincerely,
Dee Ann Boydston, Marty Gifford, Lauretta Heaney and the Wizard of Oz staff
